What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a system of clear, plastic aligners that are designed to apply small amounts of pressure to your teeth, encouraging them to shift into a straighter position. Unlike traditional braces which use metallic brackets and wires that are firmly secured to your teeth for the entire duration of your treatment plan, Invisalign aligners are completely see-through while in use. Patients may also remove their aligners throughout the day to eat, drink, and brush their teeth. As long as you wear your aligners on average of 20-22 hours a day, your treatment plan will progress as intended.

Patients love Invisalign because they do not have to worry about concerns associated with traditional braces. With traditional braces, patients must abide by certain dietary restrictions for the entire duration of their treatment plan. Excessively crunchy or chewy foods can cause damage to the dental hardware. Additionally, patients with traditional braces must worry about the oral hygiene hazards their dental hardware causes, taking extra care to learn how to brush and floss around the brackets and wires. These concerns often prevent patients from seeking out orthodontic treatment in the first place. However, with Invisalign, these concerns can be completely avoided.
